Vinícius Júnior's Potential Move to Saudi League Looking Less Likely
A move to the Saudi Pro League for Vinícius Júnior seems increasingly unlikely as no new discussions have taken place between the forward and the league. At the same time, talks with Real Madrid over a contract extension are now underway.
While the Saudi Pro League first reached out to Vinícius' representatives last year, the player chose to delay any decision regarding his future, with his current Madrid contract lasting until 2027. However, there has been no communication with the Saudis since December 2024.
The main point of contact with Vinícius' camp was SaadAlLazeez, the Saudi Pro League's vice-chairman, who resigned in March 2025, further halting discussions. Meanwhile, Real Madrid initiated talks with the player in February, offering a renewal proposal close to his current €17 million salary after tax, which includes bonuses for his FIFA 2025 The Best Men's Player award.
Vinícius’ representatives countered with a different proposal, but Madrid has yet to respond. The club is expected to assess the player’s performance during the remainder of the season before making any final decisions. Despite the ongoing negotiations, Vinícius remains in no rush, expressing his contentment at Madrid and his hope for a renewal.
Currently, the Brazilian forward is focused on Madrid’s pursuit of three major trophies: La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey, along with the upcoming Club World Cup this summer.
