Arema FC Returns to Kanjuruhan Stadium

Arema FC is set to make Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang its home ground once again following a complete renovation that meets FIFA standards. The confirmation came from Malang Regent M Sanusi after receiving approval from President PrabowoSubianto on Monday (18/3).
Kanjuruhan Stadium, located in Kepanjen, Malang, had been inactive since the tragic incident in October 2022, which claimed the lives of 135 home supporters. In response, the stadium was demolished and rebuilt according to FIFA regulations, and it is now ready to host football matches once more.
Sanusi stated that discussions with Arema FC’s management will take place to determine the usage mechanism for the stadium, which remains an asset of the Malang Regency Government. The talks will also cover rental fees for the club, though the local government will still allocate maintenance funds through the 2025 regional budget. Additionally, a comparative study will be conducted at Kapten I WayanDipta Stadium in Bali.
Before officially hosting matches, Arema FC players will be allowed to test the newly renovated pitch during internal training sessions. Sanusi emphasized that the stadium would be strictly reserved for football activities.
Further developments are planned for the surrounding area, including the construction of designated spaces for vendors. Since FIFA regulations prohibit commercial activities within the stadium premises, the local government will arrange a designated marketplace outside the venue.
