Manchester United’s Squad Overhaul: Ruben Amorim Set to Offload 10 Players
Ruben Amorim is preparing a major squad overhaul at Manchester United, with 10 players reportedly set to leave as part of the club’s restructuring efforts.
Appointed as United’s new manager in November 2024 following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Amorim was expected to bring fresh energy to the team. However, despite overseeing 27 matches across various competitions, the Portuguese coach has struggled to improve the club’s domestic performance. United has secured only 12 wins, with the remaining games resulting in five draws and ten defeats. In the Premier League, the team remains in a disappointing 14th place with 40 points from 28 matches.
Amorim has begun evaluating his squad and is planning significant changes in the summer transfer window. According to reports, he has identified 10 players who will be put on the market. Among them, RasmusHojlund and Mason Mount are expected to be the first departures, as both have failed to meet expectations. Selling them would also help generate additional funds for squad reinforcements.
Other high-profile names on the list include Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford. Currently out on loan, all three are likely to be sold permanently at the end of the season. While Antony and Rashford could secure permanent moves to their loan clubs, United may have a tougher time finding a buyer for Sancho.
Veteran midfielders Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are also set to leave as Amorim looks to refresh his options in the center of the pitch. Both players are seen as lacking the speed required to keep up with the intensity of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Tom Heaton are the final three names expected to be shown the exit door, as they do not fit into Amorim’s tactical plans moving forward.
