Persis Solo Appoints New Assistant Coach with Barcelona Experience

As they prepare for the second half of Liga 1 2024-25, Persis Solo has appointed a new assistant coach with significant experience in European football. Juan Torres Garrido, who previously worked with FC Barcelona between 2016 and 2020, joins the team to assist head coach Ong Kim Swee.



Garrido expressed his enthusiasm about joining Persis Solo, viewing it as an exciting opportunity to expand his career in Southeast Asian football. He noted the growth and development of the Indonesian league, which he finds intriguing, and is eager to contribute to its ongoing progress. Garrido is ready to support the head coach and bring his experience to help improve the team.

Garrido's career began as an analyst at Spanish club CF Damm, where he later took on roles such as talent scout, assistant coach, and academy manager. He gained further recognition during his time as a talent scout at Barcelona, working with the club's youth development system from 2016 to 2020. He then moved to Granada CF, where he managed the club's academy from 2021 to 2022.

In 2022, Garrido transitioned into international coaching, initially serving as an assistant coach for Malaysia's U-23 national team, before being promoted to the senior national team’s assistant role. Now, with a UEFA Pro license, Garrido is ready to bring his wealth of experience to Persis Solo, with the goal of helping the team rise from its current struggles in the league.
