Football Livescore | Match Prediction & Tips

Montpellier - LLLLWL
Kiki Kouyaté (Knee injury), Becir Omeragic (Hamstring injury), Théo Sainte-Luce (Muscle injury), Khalil Fayad (Dead leg), Lucas Mincarelli (Muscle injury), Glenn Ngosso (Cruciate ligament tear) and Christopher Jullien (Cruciate ligament tear) won’t be playing for Montpellier manager Jean-Louis Gasset.

We are thinking that La Paillade should line up in a 4-3-3 system in the match featuring Benjamin Lecomte, Enzo Tchato, Nikola Maksimovic, Modibo Sagnan, Issiaga Sylla, Rabby Nzingoula, Joris Chotard, Jordan Ferri, Arnaud Nordin, Wahbi Khazri and Tanguy Coulibaly.

Montpellier will be hoping to return to winning ways here after a 1-0 Ligue 1 loss in their previous game against St Etienne.

In that match, Montpellier managed 67% possession and 11 attempts at goal with 3 on target. Saint-Etienne had 11 shots at goal with 4 of them on target. Benjamin Bouchouari (47') was the scorer for St Etienne.

Matches featuring Montpellier have usually been engaging ones recently with high scoring anticipated. Over their past 6 clashes alone, the sum of 20 goals have gone in for both teams combined (at an average of 3.33 goals per game) with 5 of them accredited to Montpellier.

Coming into this fixture, Montpellier have not registered a win against Lille in their last 12 matches in the league.

Lille - WDDDWW
Lille manager Bruno Génésio has a number of players out of action. Samuel Umtiti (Knee surgery), André Gomes (Dead leg), Nabil Bentaleb (heart problems), Tiago Santos (Cruciate ligament tear), Ethan Mbappé (Torn thigh muscle) and Angel Gomes (Calf injury) can’t be considered.

It’s our belief that LOSC appear most likely to utilise a 4-2-3-1 lineup, settling for Lucas Chevalier, Thomas Meunier, Alexsandro Ribeiro, Bafode Diakite, Ismaily, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Benjamin Andre, Edon Zhegrova, Remy Cabella, Osame Sahraoui and Jonathan David.

Lille will come into the encounter following a 1-2 Champions League win with the downing of Bologna in their last outing.

In that game, Lille managed 43% possession and 15 attempts on goal with 8 on target. The only player on the scoresheet for Lille was Ngal'ayel Mukau (44', 66'). Bologna had 12 shots at goal with 6 on target. Jhon Lucumí (63') scored for Bologna.

In their previous 6 clashes, Lille have helped themselves to a tally of 9 goals. Lille have also managed to score in every single one of those games. During those fixtures, their defenders have seen 5 goals go against them. We will find out whether or not that trend will be continued on here.

Their previous form shows that Lille:
have not lost to Montpellier when they've played them away from home in the last 5 league matches. A solid away record against them.
are unbeaten in their last 4 league matches away from home.

Montpellier HSC possible starting lineup:
Lecomte; Mbiayi, Maksimovic, Sagnan, Sylla; Nzingoula, Chotard, Ferri; Nordin, Khazri, Coulibaly

Lille possible starting lineup:
Chevalier; Meunier, Diakite, Ribeiro, Ismaily; Andre, Bouaddi, Cabella; Sahraoui, David, Zhegrova

Montpellier vs Lille Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
Montpellier's recent record against Lille is a pretty bad one. They have lost five of their last six meetings, although their most recent clash ended in a 0-0 draw. The hosts haven't won at home against their visitors since 2017.
Montpellier would've gone into last weekend's game with fellow strugglers Saint-Etienne with some confidence after pulling off a major upset over Brest before the international break. However, they then suffered a 1-0 defeat, restarting their cycle of misery.
Lille, in contrast, are on a fantastic run of form right now. Not only are they eight games unbeaten in Ligue 1 - most recently defeating Rennes - but they are also four unbeaten in the Champions League. This week, they defeated Bologna 1-2 in an impressive win.
Montpellier's leaky defense remains a major concern that they will need to fix if they want to have any chance of surviving this season. They have now conceded 32 goals, seven more than Saint-Etienne, who have the second-worst defensive record in Ligue 1.
Lille, in contrast, have the second-best defensive record in Ligue 1. They have only conceded eleven goals to date, and have kept six clean sheets along the way

Prediciton: Montpellier HSC 0-2 Lille
Montpellier have struggled this season and a team of Lille's calibre may be too much for them to handle. Lille are missing a number of players, but they should still have the necessary firepower to handle Montpellier and pick up all three points on Sunday.
