Ben Simmons reached out to Joel Embiid last summer in an effort to repair their relationship

According to ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne, former Philadelphia 76ers player Ben Simmons reached out to Joel Embiid last summer in an attempt to mend their relationship.

In the summer of 2021, Simmons requested a trade from the 76ers, which led to his eventual trade to the Brooklyn Nets before the 2021-22 season's trade deadline in exchange for James Harden. This move caused a significant rift between Simmons and Embiid. However, in the years since Simmons parted ways with his former team, much has happened. League sources indicate that last summer, Simmons reached out to Embiid and other individuals in an effort to repair their relationship. Notably, Simmons is in the final year of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

During his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons made three All-Star appearances in his four seasons with the team. He was named to the NBA's Third Team in 2020 and was twice selected to the All-Defensive First Team.
